Hi,
Does anyone has recently got I-485 approval after porting priority date from earliar EB3 filing.
My I-140 got approved 2 weeks back and based on priority date, I am current. Ny EB3 485 was filed in July 2007.
How long it is taking for I485 to get approved after I-140 approval when the priority date is current.

Tell me, in any of the bills that came in 2005, PACE, CIR. Dream Act etc., or later, IS there even one mention or a discussion of changing the PD? Let's discuss more on how to bring out more into the open, the issues the H1 visa holders are facing from their small time employers in applying for permanent residence, backlog issues and how redtape is destroying these young men's goals, about lack of visa numbers.
Why there is even a provision in the last Senate bill, for illegals to SELF petition for GC, if employer doen't apply in 2 years. Let's discuss about a similar provision for H1 visa holders who are legally working here, paying taxes. Let's discuss even more important issue.
Why should we pay, SS Tax and Medicare if we are temporary workers. Let them START collecting once I-485 is applied.
This last point will resonate well with all It will be picked up easily; you will see the panic flying in the leven when a simple mention of it is made.
These are the practical things we need to discuss. Not a theoritical PD definition, on which we have no locus standi.
I have to respectfully disagree with you on that...just because it was never brought up doesn't mean it should never be taken up. I think you core members know better...if this does not sound practial...End of discussion.

One of my friend got receipt for I-140 and I-1485, He send on July 30th to Nebraska Service center. I have send on the 2nd July still waiting.

This is really frustrating...moving EB2-I cut-off dates to Aug 2006, approving large number of 2006 PD cases and leaving 2003 - 2005 cases aside.

I totally agree with you. I have read the original message several times too and I am sure they mean June 2008. Our only hope is if they meant Mexico only, and not al EB categories.
I have read the Original quote several times and dont see how they mean June 2007, To me it is clear that they are talking about June 2008.
Sorry to sound so negative, but I think we are looking at something like Sept 2001 for EB3-I in Oct bulletin.

Between June 1 and the first few days of July (?), the USCIS requested and was authorized over 60,000 EB visa numbers, in approximately one month. Since it has been made clear by the USCIS that during the last weekend of June 30 and July 1 (2 days) the USCIS approved 25,000 EB 485 applications, apparently over 40,000 visa numbers were requested and authorized before the weekend in a period of less than one month. Obviously the 60,000 plus cases must thus have been approved (?) in one month. Unconformed sources indicate that they processed and approved (?) a substantial number of applications on Sunday, July 1, exhausting the EB numbers by July 1 and making the EB number unavailable not from July 1 but from July 2, 2007. It is interesting that even before the legal team initiates any discovery, the truth starts coming out of the cabinet a bit by bit.
I have a question:

So VISAs still available 140,000 - 66,426 - 40,000 - 25,000 = 8574

Thanks for letting us know about your friends. At least we can see that USCIS is trying to clear 2004 applicants. They will be taking care of 2005 soon then. :D

Any ideas on when this hearing is?
Just called up the Senate Judiciary Committee. Today's meeting is already over. They could not relay the hearings on their website due to the sudden change in the rooms. The record of today's meeting is not yet out. We'll have to check on other websites like AILA to see what amendments were included.
Tomorrow's meeting starts at 9 AM.

With US becoming in-tolerant to Legal immigration, Australia moving to toughen rules, BNP winning seats in UK, Singapore curtailing immigration, India denying visas and the list continues..
It is clearly the order of the day.. We human beings forgot that it is basic human right to immigrate as recognized by UN. We are on verge of becoming herding animals if not more restricted.
I hope things change. But I think it is going to change by the time most people don't care anymore about immigrating.
I have seen/heard of Indian elite university students declining US offers just to avoid immigration headaches.. My close friends back in India are kind of joking about those waiting in the line just to get the papers filed to move to any other country than India.
This year H1B quota is an eye opener. I think the trend continues next year and year after.
But most of the times, all governments realize about the ground reality only in the end when the damage is made, not when it started.
Such thing can never happen. Also, don't lose hope. Look at how the world was before. Slavery, racism, castiesm, untouchability, intolerance, poverty etc.... it has always been a struggle to navigate through all these barriers and we are still navigating.
Basically the attitude is "when my house is burning why should I accomodate these people" - it is how the world is and we have to navigate.
