Not sure if anyone else has faced this so wanted to put this out: I own a home and have a loan on it since 2003 (I was on H1 when i took the loan), now that the ARM is about to adjust i am in the market for refinance.
There is however a question on all the loans underwritten by freddy/fanny asking for immigration status and if the answer is EAD the loan is denied. They even sent me an explanation of denial.....:confused:
I was in the exact same boat 3-4 months ago. I had even paid $ 400 for appraisal and at the last minute the lender backed out.
However, I have managed to secure refinancing at a substantially lower rate with a different mortgage company. Send me a PM and I can let you know the details if you are still in the market for a refi.

My Certified Mail to Ombudsman was actually delivered at DC on Sep 2nd 7:52 AM. Today is Sep 16th , so far no reply.

You are right, Ramesh, sadly people have time to check for Bill updates and get their spirits down with amendment removal news but no time to get more friends to join or contribute. Please wake up people and contribute, and persuade your friends / colleagues at work you know to join IV. I got a weird response (chat) from a close friend saying she would rather donate to Myanmar/ China victim that her own Immigration cause, but I haven't given up, I will try to persuade such friends even though that raised my B.P. Its the high time we convince the senators who said NAYS. Lets start SOME KIND OF CAMPAIN aiming these guys. I am sure that core's hands are there behind this amendment. Well done IV. Don't get dissappointed, keep trying for Skill bill or for similar amendments. Its really unfortunate that we lost a very very big chance. Lets do something immediately.

I agree with the posts to a certain extent but the last time we sent mass letters only 5000 letters were collected. A couple of people were responsible for collecting 500-1000 letters each. You can caculate the percentage of letter writers of the who actually sent out the letters.
We talk about num usa etal.. bear in mind they have lots of resources and volunteers willing to call and write letters. We keep fighting about EB3 Vs EB2, red dots and green dots and other 'important' issues, very few actually make the calls. The ones who work, keep working while others demand answers as to why issues are not fixed, the rest of us just like discussing issues to death on the forums... just my 2 (pick your denomination).

I think we should send mass letters to all the involved agencies with posters. Not only all the people will be involved, it will be difficult for USCIS to redirect the stuff to some orphanage/veterans Hospitals etc. Just my 2 cents.

I took home loan from SYNDICATE BANK, Hyderabad 3 yrs ago. The rates were reasonable and I'd recommend them, but you have to compromise little on service. You can directly transfer money from US to Syndicate bank.
My question here is I didn't knew that we can save money in the form of tax deductable/excemption here in US on interest paid in India for home loans. Could you please let me know further details? If possible the CPA who you worked/working with for tax returns.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

If not this bus then the next bus . No use raising your blood pressure for this . Attorneys and the media have a habit of scaring people unnecessarily . This Current date is not the end of the world , so take a chill pill ..

I just Spoke to sentor Specter office: 202-224-4254. They were very supportive. I spoke about the revised Visa bulltien and the effect of losing nurses. They were very sympathatic . I added i know how the sentor support immigration.
